A Bit Soon, but I have a Question

I traded my lvl 100 Heatran for a Shaymin on GTS
I couldn't get my hands on the Gracidea item, so I set my eyes on trading it for a MEW
I posted the Shaymin up on GTS, asking a MEW of ANY LEVEL (Yeah, my mistake)
I ended up getting a Level 12 MEW from a trader based in Japan

Afterwards, I started building up my breeding pairs and thought my MEW would be an
excellent trading-chip. BUT, whenever I tried posting it up on GTS or making a trade
with a GTS, it told me that the Pokemon could not be traded. The only assumption I could
make, was that I was punked by that traded from Japan, so I released the MEW (rather than risk any form of ban)

2 Questions However --->

Q1 --- How did that initial Trader (lets call him MR JAPAN), get the pokemon up on GTS ?
Q2 --- Have a just punked myself and maybe released a LEGIT MEW ?

Pretty sure the Mew was a hack, but you shouldn't have released it.

Nah, it would spoil my whole deal of trying to stay 100% legit.
As I said earlier, I wouldn't want to risk a ban of one badly traded pokemon.

Just looking for some info and checking out other sites/wikis ... thought I might as well ask here too

- What is a legit encounter level for a MEW?
- Can it be hatched from an EGG in anyway?
- Was there no legit event for it on Pokemon Platinum (read something about a lvl5 MEW)
