I recently picked up a copy of Battalion Wars 2, and compared with the Advance Wars series, it's pretty good. I often find myself playing as a lone grunt (you've got to love their chit-chat), gunning down the opposition while being supported by bombers and/or fighters. Although strategy doesn't really apply most of the time, engaging enemy units with the correct counter-unit really does make the difference (sometimes the action will be going on all around your unit-in-control and you'll get disoriented)! I seriously didn't know what I've been missing.
