Thread Quality

Ok, seriously, something needs to be said about this.
Lately, I have seen a HUGE decline in the quality of threads.
REALLY BAD STEEP decline.
Usually there is at least one good thread that can get a good descussion going, and sometimes those threads were hard to find, but when you did, it was great to chat, debate and make new friends etc. Which is exactly what a forum is about.
But lately, it's been the same old 'Whos best out of Mario and Captain Falcon' or 'lulz, some guy had sum uberz on his teem but i beet him coz im da best'.
That's all the members on this forum seem to care about. Being the best at something, being the 'Number on Pikachu user in Brawl' or being 'Top Mario Karter in FC'.
When did people just play games for just that, gaming.
I understand people like to participate in tournaments and play other people, but when you start talking about 'I want to be the best' it takes the gaming out of it and just puts in some competetive nonsense that makes winners or loosers which innevitably ends up making people angry, making people big headed and the list goes on.
I think we need to start focussing on the better threads here at FC.com. Any thread that even shows a hint of community, gathering and talking about a subject is instantly shunned and pushed to the side.
I understand that some subjects aren't allowed here, but that's the reason, because some of our members are too immature to take things seriously sometimes, and don't know when to draw a line between being stupid and being mature.

Does R1k really want me to post more? Below is a posting I wrote up years ago at one of the various gaming forums I visit. Let's see if you deem it appropriate or if the members are mature enough to appreciate it.
They are the Great Corrupters of Society Anyway, the group whom I am referring to are the dwarves, or at least the dwarves in the Mage Knight world. And I have proof. 1. Look at the War Wagon. From the description of the package of the War Wagon, it was originally a simple tool of farming to help people. Now it is vehicle of carnage (or at least in my view one of the better chariots to deal damage) 2. The Hippopotamus is a friendly creature, and will only attack if threatened. Now it has to pull around a cruel Dwarf with a whip, driving wherever the Dwarf wishes to go. 3. As a general rule in the animal kingdom, the bigger you are, the gentler/lazier you are. Look at the Hill Giant. He is being humiliated by the Dwarves by working for them by transporting them to their own whimsical desire. 4. It was they who let Estra (from the Tezla lore card) die. If they just worked more efficiently mining and without complaint, she would not have died. 5. They smell. 6. Most dwarves carry either an axe, a hammer, a firearm, or a combination of the above. Obviously, axes are destructive tools that are simply horrendous and terrifying. Hammers are usually associated with evil red threat, communism (also take a look at color of the Forgemaster figures too) . Dwarves are like little children, and children should not play with guns. 7. We all know that it was Snow who assassinated the Atlantean Prophet-Priest that started the Rebellion, but Snow should not take all the blame. Someone gave him that fuser, and that someone was a dwarf. Remember, if you gave a gun to a monkey, and the monkey shot someone, you're reponsible too 8. Have you seen a female dwarf in the game yet? Seeing that there is a lack of female dwarves, the males must find ways to release themselves, and that kind of behavior is not acceptable nor appropriate 9. Dwarves are usally known for their slow speed. This is the common belief that they have short legs, but this is a misconception because dwarves simply do not like to get their work done. Before the relaunch of Mage Knight, the only way to increase their movement was the usage of the special speed ability, Force March. Now, with that ability gone, they now have to rely on relics and items... and only a few dwarves are granted the right to use them. 10. They drink and party too much. 11. Now some of you humanitarians might claim that the dwarves are only fighting back because they are being oppressed. However, dwarves have Magic Immunity or the Wand Immunity, a very dangerous threat to the mages and wizards, a majority of whom happen to have political powers. Thus dwarves must be kept in check to ensure order and to prevent chaos. 12. The War Wagon is the first multi-dial chariot; the Dwarven behemoth is the first multi-dial tank; and the Iron Rain Hill Giant is the first non-artillery titan piece. A closer examination will reveal that there are dwarf or two on them. If they are not stopped now, who knows what the next monstrosity dwarves will think of. 13. The Drakonas are a very smart race. They have kept their dwarves bound, otherwise dwarves will revert to their true nature: nude, dirty, partying, ale-drinking beasts. If you are not convinced about that statement, examine the dark dwarves figures from the Dragon's Gate set, and tell me how many articles of clothing a dark dwarf has. 14. Dwarves are short, therefore they are generally distrustworthy. Do you trust short people? :P 15. As you are reading this post, you are probably thinking of building an all-dwarf army. See how they have corrupted your soul. |
