So, lemme set the scene. Thursday night, boys night (that's what we call sitting in front of the tube, watching scrubs, playing mario kart:double dash and my friend resetting mario party 7, because everyone else had a star) and my friend says that if i open up another treasure chest that has a star in it, he is going to flip out. Well long story short, he wasn't bluffing.
Mario Party 7, ever since it hit the Gamecube it hasn't be able to live up to my personal favorites, Mario Party 1&2, but i still was hoping that every year they would come out with a new one. Well Mario Party 5 was a very nice addition to the collection, and Mario Party 6 is still new to me, because i got bored of it, but Mario Party 7 finally has a good mixture of all the good stuff (still the costumes aren't back, altough...yoshi looked weird as a cowboy anyway).
First off, the big negative...single player is a complete joke, there are no four-player minigames, and it is redudant, repetive, senile, and grumpy. If you're going to go solo, just do party mode.
The new minigames have gotten alot better since they slacked off after Mario Party 1&2's Platform Peril (such a great minigame). But, if your friend is easily angered make sure before you play, you teach him the difference between left and right if you're going to play the mike minigames, because my friend played a mini game and ranted "le-right" because he forgot which was which, and he reset the game (so many resets!).
Other great minigames include a long trail of jumping over spiny shells, trap flooring, and other crazy things, plus memory games, and other crazy madness.
The multiplayer version of this game is next to astrordinary (astro-ordinary?) and will annoy friends, destroy boyfriend, girlfriend, fiance, fiancee, wife, husband relations, and make family christmas even more hectic, because it is so much fun, and you will get into. The most intresting aspect, is that getting stars in every course is different. And every course is different. One course is a mountain, you have to climb...then reclimb...then reclimb again. And also there are 2 whole unlockable characters (seems Dry Bones has gotten a renewal of popularity) and also an unlockable level, and quite other few unlockables, that you have to buy, which greatly makes the game more exciting (finally taking the awesome idea of Mario Party).
All single player challenges aside, this game is made for "parties" and this game doesn't make it any easier to wait for Mario Party 8, maybe (maybe for
DS, if we're lucky!!)??
Graphics like a Victoria's Secret Model (9.7)
Controls just like an electric car (9.5)
Replays like a bop-it for a twelve year old (10)
Playing alone is like re-runs (6.7)
Plot line like a pornography film (4.8)
Sound like the "new" U2 (7.8)
Levels are nice and fresh (9.6)
Overall is like 8.3 (Fits your mood, so if you're schitzophrenic, you have twice the chance of liking the game)
