Castlevania (This is my first review)
Published by: Nintendo
Developed by: Konami
Genre: Adventure
Number of Players: 1
Release Date:
1985-1990 varying from country to country
Introduction: When you first play the game, there is a cut-scene showing a man, Simon Belmondo, walking along, he sees a spooky castle, and he decides to enter it. You begin in a spooky cementary with a small whip but don't have to go far (About 10 steps) to upgrade your small whip to a long ball and chain.

Once you enter the castle, Ghosts and cats attack you. You have to use your whip/Ball and chain to defend yourself and stay alive.

Controls: The controls are pretty easy to use although I had some problems such as trying to duck from an enemy while near stairs, I would start walking slowly down stairs and get hit. Other then that, the controls are extremely easy to use. I give the controls a
4.5
Up: Ascend stairs
Down: Duck, Descend stairs
Left: Move you character left
Right: Move you character right
A: Jump
B: Use whip
Start: Pause the game
Select: N/A
Up & B: Secondary weapon
Gameplay: The game is fun and easy to pick up and play. The game is easy at first but increase in difficulty at a steady rate so the game doesn't get too easy or too frustrating. The fun thing about this game is the amount of depth, and of course the
Boss Battles! Overall I think the gameplay gets a
5 because it created so many sequels and of course, it is so much fun to play.

Sound: The eerie music deffinately sets the tone of the game and the sound effects are pretty good. Well since there was so little technology available at the time, I must say that they produced the music to the best of their abilities for this game. I'm giving it a
4.5 Pros
+ A long game which will keep you busy for a while
+ Intuitive controls
+ Fun Boss Battles
+ The game's difficulty increases steadily so it doesn't get too easy or too frustrating
+ Many Different Weapons at your disposal
Cons
- There is no multi-player
- The gameplay is the same the whole way through, kill all enemies with your whip
Overall The game gets an 8. If you have played a castlevania game, this is a must and if you haven't, there is no reason not to. This game is long, easy to play, the music draws you into the game and it is overall an enjoyable experience. If you can't find this game, you should download it off the virtual console from the
Wii.
