Intro:Phantasy Star….Sonic Team’s number two best selling series. The game is based around a character that you get to make. You can choose from three different races:
Hunters: The race for beginning players. Hunters mainly use swords and the weak guns and level up faster then other races.
Rangers: The race for intermediate players. Rangers are strong gun wielding people and also can use swords.
Forces: The race for expert players. Force can only use staffs and wands and level very slowly.
Game Play: Offline
PSO starts off as a field of complication; it gets boring at low levels. Once you reach around level 20, everything becomes easy and you’ll be slaying monsters with 2 or 3 hits.
What makes the game fun is the use of the mysterious little creatures following your character; the MAG. The MAG is a little robotic “helper” than can fire off photon blasts once you kill enough monsters. The only way to get your MAG to use a photon blast is to level it up by feeding it your items, and then evolving it (this whole system is like chaos in Sonic). You can only evolve it twice, and for each “evo” you get a new photon blast.
Game Play: Online
The online game play is more fun and simpler. Online you can join a team and go around the worlds killing. Or you can have a choice of hanging out at the lobby. You can sit and chat or send and receive team requests. But if no one wants you in a team…you can play Go Go Ball! Go Go Ball is a no-rules game, just simply kick the ball on the ground into the net!
Over All Review:
Game Play 10/10
The game play is great. It has technically no flaws. That's all I can say.
Graphics 7/10
It’s pretty bad graphics and do not go to the Gamecube’s limits. They could have waited a couple more months to release it and touched up the graphics.
Sound 6/10
The sound of the swords swinging and the repetitive music can go to someone’s head after awhile.
Controls 9/10
The controls get allot of taking use to, but once you get the hang of it, it’s very simple.
So altogether……a perfect 8!
It’s a great game to pick up for
Wii if you see it. But one side effect of playing it on
Wii, no online play.
