Many outlets and landmarks from past Animal Crossing games will be making a return. Tom Nook is will be coming back, along with his signature Raccoon Housing and will also freely give you a tent at the beginning of the game to start you off until you can upgrade your home, and the player has the ability to select a specific parts of their home that they wish to upgrade. As the player upgrades their home, they will have access to a broader selection of furniture to to decorate your home with, which includes brand new furniture sets such as a mermaid set, We also have the new ability to hang decorations on walls, such as paintings and clocks.. A shopping mall will also be included in the game, as confirmed beforehand.

Along with that, the Able sisters from previous installments will be returning to Animal Crossing with their tailor shop. The museum will return as well, and include more displays, since we now have an expanded range of fossils, bugs, and fish to discover. In addition, the museum will have it's own shop and an exhibition room. More new shops have also been introduced such as a thrift store run by Lisa the alpaca, a shoe shop, a store that sells miscellaneous items, and a gardening shop run by an unnamed sloth, where seeds and flowers may be purchased.
Several new features such as being able to swim in the oceans that are around the village, and expanded character customization options have been added to the game, as customization is emphasized in this game.
Release windows have been given for Japan , Europe, and North America, with Japan's release due for a November release while North America, and Europe will have to wait until sometime next year.
