On a new adventure, Sora and Riku are now off to become keyblade masters, for what reason- we are not sure yet. Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance will be the seventh installment in the Kingdom Hearts series. It is also the seventh game chronologically in the Kingdom Hearts series being after Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded.
Following the destruction of Ansem and Xemnas at the hands of Sora and Riku, Xenahort is mysteriously revived. In response, Yen Sid decides to put Sora and Riku through the Mark of Mystery Exam in order to become full-fledged Keyblade Masters so that they can counter Xehanort's actions.
Dream Drop Distance focuses on Sora and Riku's Mark of Mastery exam, foreshadowed at the secret ending trailer of Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded. Resulting, the ending trailer of Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded, and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance will directly lead to Kingdom Hearts III. The plot will also have parallels to Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.
The gameplay for Dream Drop Distance is meant to be similar to Final Fantasy Versus XIII's gameplay. However instead of evolving it like Final Fantasy it will evolve the gameplay by adding bold new actions, like being able to swing from poles, slide across roofs and other cool actions like that.
As far known, players will be able to play as Riku and Sora throughout their adventure in the game. It should be interesting to play the game in two different charactersí perspectives. A new gauge called "Drop Gauge" was featured in the game's first trailer, which Nomura stated would be easier to understand when playing it.
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance will feature all brand new Disney Worlds! The only new Disney World that we know about so far is the world from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, which was featured in the trailer. Original Worlds such as Traverse Town, Destiny Island, Hollow Bastion, and more will be back. According to an interview, Tetsuya Nomura stated that there might be new clothing for Sora and Riku. The game's story will also be connected t Kingdom Hearts III, which has yet to begin development.
