Less Reflection on 3DS XL Screen

In addition to the 3DS XL’s significant new features such as the nearly doubled screen sizes, doubled harddrive memory and increased battery life, Satoru Iwata of Nintendo says that screen reflection is decreased.

Nintendo has spent a lot of time to minimize reflection on portable screens while keeping costs reasonable since it gets pricey. Reflectivity on the 3DS is at 12%, and at only a tiny 3% on the XL model, making it the lowest of every Nintendo console ever. There are 3 treated reflective layers to virtually eliminate glare, giving gamers a more vivid 3D experience. The 3DS XL is an extra $30 than the normal model, but with all these internal and aesthetic benefits it makes for a good investment for more intensive gamers or just those who enjoy the added luxury.

The 3DS XL goes on sale in North America on August 19th for $199.99.

I think I'll get this after I get a wii-U and my 3DS breaks, I was gonna get it on release but I think that waiting for better accessories is a good idea. Besides, I'd want a bigger screen for SSB4 anyways xP

Hm, that's great about the reduced glare and all, but I think I'll be smart and wait a couple months after the release for more colors before I go buying an XL.

The new features are cool and all, but they aren't worth the $200. You're better off saving up for a new 3DS/Wii/DS game or the Wii U when it comes out.

Besides, keep in mind your pant's pocket size before buying an XL 3DS.

The reason I got an XL is because I had to trade in my original 3DS due to a small money problem at the time.
Back then I hated having to do so, but it paid off, I love my 3DS XL, love the bigger screens and it feel a lot more comfortable to hold.

I'm getting this, I'd rather play my DS games on a bigger screen then a small screen. Don't we all? Like with our consoles? Besides, stop complaining Americans. It's much dearer here in Australian. :) So you guys are getting lucky. <3 smd.

The glare reduction is almost a deal maker, I remember playing on my OG 3DS seeing my face clearly at loading screens :S

Now with my XL I don't give any of that, just the occasional very fade silhouette. I recommend XL to any newcomers to the 3DS, very comfortable to hold and much easier to use all around.
