Matte Red and Matte Blue Announced for DSi

Nintendo of America has recently updated up via twitter that two new colors, Matte Red & Matte Blue will be available for the Nintendo DSi. Both which will be available for purchase by Nintendo's perceptions as soon as this week, joining the DSi color library. Similar colors were also adapted to the 3DS in Europe and japan, but no plans for an american release have been announced. I may also add that this is for the original models and it does not apply to the Nintendo DSi XL.

Time for a color refresh! Check out Matte Red & Matte Blue Nintendo DSi coming to retailers as early as this week!

The DSi is discontinued in Australia. So I'm guessing it won't be coming here.

yea im with you there. doesnt make sense.even.if u hate 3d u can turn it off and have a better screen with console games and circle pad makin it useless to even buy dsi still -.-

What is the average price for a DSi? compared to a 3DS.

Now if it these were for the 3DS it may be more interesting, matte finish on them.

Nintendo has NEVER supported the DSi.. They made the thing, and then let it die right before their eyes..

Name ONE popular DSi game! It's impossible because there are no DSi games...

These new colors are way too late.. Why not give us these matte colors for the 3DS instead?? I really like that blue one..

Where is the gray 3ds xl for America !?! Come on Nintendo !! I don't want red or blue and i really don't want to wait to get a xl, but i guess ill have to get red cause i always get the blue ones.

exactly, and plus you can use the circle pad on the normal ds games as a replacement to the d-pad, which I acually like

Eh, I don't see it being as stupid as everyone thinks. Pointless maybe, but not stupid. Nintendo is smart to still produce DSis in territories where there's market for it. Not everyone can afford to drop $160 on a new handheld, and that's not counting a game (the selection of which is still limited).
The DSi is probably being angled at parents of smaller kids who just want to play SOMEthing. Nintendo does this with most of it's handhelds; they made the backlit GBA SP in 2005, alongside the all-new Game Boy Micro (Not that the latter really worked out) over a year after the initial launch of the DS phat. It's the same way Sony made PS2s up until what, 2010? 2011?, to offer an experience for all price points.

I would have to agree from the perspective of features, but for that they let a few things die. By that I am referring to the ability to manage data. I heard savegame backup was possible...just like you'd think they could format Wii memory for GCN saves...I guess that possibility lost the revenue/humanity battle.

This is for the DSi/DSi XL, not the 3DS XL.
