• Metroid: Other M Price Drop

The highly controversial game, as it has received mixed reviews from the positive and acclaimed end of the spectrum, to the negative and slanderous end, Metroid: Other M's price has been dropped to a staggeringly low $7.99 on the Best Buy website and in-store. This is the lowest price the game has been since GameStop dropped the price from $49.99 to just $6.99 back in December. It seems like this might be the best time to purchase this game if you were unsure about dishing out a hefty $50 for a game that has a mixed pool of reception.

It was a great and rather different game from the usual Metroids it wasn't bad at all. It wasn't worth the $50 but it was still a great game in general. If you're looking for something to do on your Wii this would be a great investment.

      loooooool...

other M was a lousy metroid game and an insult to samus' character. they basically ruined samus and turned her into every last lame stereotype of a weak anime girl, not at ALL human like in her emotions(infact i'd say they made her feel less human in other M then in any other metroid in existence)

there is a BIG difference between giving a character emotions and making them a completely over the top mental trainwreck of anime girl stereotypes with daddy issues.

Not only was the game a lousy metroid from the viewpoint of what it did to samu's character, but also from the viewpoint of actually playing like a metroid game.

Final Fantasy 13 was always criticized for its extremely linear design that essentially had you on one long trek down a single path throughout the entire game.

In other M this is pretty much the exact same case, the game is setup to where there is practically no exploration at all(even ending up with a gamebreaking glitch at one point in the game should the players attempt to backtrack), its extremely linear and not at all feeling like a metroid game in its execution of world design.

Other M would of been an "ok/meh" game, by itself, but to throw samus in there, and ruin the image of the last female icon of gaming by turning her into a submissive weak girl with daddy problems was just too much.

if nintendo/sakamoto, EVER think of creating a new metroid game that attempts to give samus "emotion" and make her feel more "human" again, for gods sake keep Sakamoto as far away from the story as possible, and hire some decent writers to give samus some "emotions" as there are far far FAR better ways to give a character feelings of sadness, to anger, to fear, etc, then what they did in other M, also in ways that DON'T insult an already fairly established character Like Samus.

ive seen this game, but I havent played it,but from what ive gathered it feels like(I have played super mario 3d land before) its a steroided version of SM3D Land and if SM 3d Land got good reviews I dont see how this game didnt.

you're only taking into account one element of the game, sure the gameplay was..."similar" (idk where that idea came from?) but other M also has a storyline unlike SM3DL and the characters actually idk have dialogue, emotions, you do stuff other than run and jump. Other M had a poor portrayal of its characters and story, heck I even thought the gameplay in general was below that found in the typical Prime and main games

I never would've thought a price would be that low for a popular game.

It certainly isn't the best Metroid game, but I also don't think is that bad as a lot of people make it seem. So, a badass and merciless bounty hunter isn't allowed to have a breakdown and act like a little girl once? These things can happen to anybody at some point.

But even if I agreed with people and I thought Samus' portrayal sucks, it's not enough reason not to buy the game (is like when people was dissing Baten Kaitos just because of the voice acting...), since I think the gameplay is good enough. It's more linear than other Metroid games, yes (and so was Fusion), but it's not nearly as bad as people make it seem....

.....Still overpriced. Once it sells for a nickel, then we might talk.

Its not a bad game, just calm down. Jesus christ. Sure I was disappointed a little too when Samus had voice acting, of course having 'daddy issues' could get annoying at times; but my point is is that the gameplay, for me, was pretty cool. I liked how it gave some backstory to who Adam was (or tell somewhat of Adam's action... derp) which I thought was fine. I admit that I was disappointed with some things (Ridley, Samus, you know what I mean) but that didn't stop me from enjoying the gameplay.

Great article TLight, I kinda wish that I had gotten it now. :u

i thought the game was good >.> not great but decent enough to have a good time..
i loved the voice acting to, that added an element of excitment to the game during the action packed moments
i dont know why everyone is hating on it so much ... .>.>

i welcome all voice acting and im glad nintendos experimenting with it for example in kid icarus uprising the voice acting was crucial to the game

not sure if it would work with zelda but if they ever tried it i would definitly buy it and if i dont like it then no biggie it was just one game

This was my first Metroid game, and I gotta say that I think it was great. It must be those long term fans of the series that hated Samus' "weak" moments.
