New Mario and Kingdom Hearts Games Boost 3DS Market
3DS sales have recently shot up 36% in the past month thanks to the new releases of the 3DS XL and the games New Super Mario Bros. 2
and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
. Both of these games are exclusive for the 3DS, and have proved popular as Kingdom Hearts
has sold 180,000 copies while the Mario
game has sold an even higher 240,000 since its Japanese release in summer and just a few weeks ago everywhere else. These numbers also include many 3DS and 3DS XL sales with the games as it has encouraged consumers to buy the system in order to get their hands on them.
“Software sells hardware, and no one sells either quite like Mario,”
said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president.
Other titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina
and Kid Icarus: Uprising
are also contributing to sales. With this, plus the Wii
U coming soon this holiday season, Nintendo’s looking to make a lot of money very soon this year. Source 1
