• Nintendo Making Digital Downloads For Third Party Games Possible

As previously mentioned, Nintendo plans to provide us with the option to buy digital copies of physical retail games for the 3DS and upcoming Wii U. What we weren't sure of before, is whether or not this would be limited to first party games. Yesterday, a Nintendo spokesperson confirmed to IGN that they plan to include both first and third party content in their new campaign to expand their digital market.

"We are currently preparing a program for third parties but have nothing specific to announce at this time," said the Nintendo representative. We still don't know which third party developers we can expect to start using this, or when we will get our first third party games in digital form, but at least we know its happening.

This will be so good for stores like GameStop, if all games went online (meaning buying them online) then stores like GameStop aren't going to do good

I'd still rather buy the retail game, I like having the original box, booklet and any other extra stuff that might come :D

(of course, if I'm short on cash and I really want a game I'll consider it :P)

I hope the 3DS and WiiU are compatible. Just like Gamecube and Gameboy.

While I can't see being necessarily excited for this myself, it's nice for people who do download most games. Personally, I prefer the physical game because I have something to show for the money I spent. The physical product is a part of the experience.

Some people prefer to have physical copies of their games.
Also just because they will allow downloads of retail games does not mean that every game will be a download too.

I'm pretty sure they'll make the actual retail games as well as making them downloadable. Besides I could careless what happens to Gamestop now since they've been ripping people off lately. I'm still upset that they don't have my Circle Pad Pro although it's not entirely their faults.

[It is because my grandfather recently put part of my money into investments, and seeing how I liked video games, he decided to buy stocks of GameStop. While I do agree with you on their act of "ripping people off," I do hope that the stocks eventually rise, so I can then sell, get some profit, and invest in some other company that will hopefully do better. The have some good prices for used games, but when it comes to selling games to them, they are major rip offs.]

[You have a point, as soon as the stocks rise (for GameStop) I'm going to sell them and buy stocks in some other company.]
