This is an appealing offer for both consumers and publishers. Downloading makes games available at the push of a button, and is more profitable than selling through retailers first. It’d also support indie developers, and Nintendo is cutting revenues more than Sony and Microsoft's. So why not?
“They’re offering insane incentives for publishers to sell retail games as downloads on the console,” the developer says. “You’d be stupid not to take advantage of it and go retail box-only. The new platform is perfect for indie devs, it’s a whole different ball game than WiiWare. They’ve learned a lot from that mess."
