Some of the newly revealed details include:
Online Play: Mario Tennis Open will feature wireless-based play, which will allow players to compete and cooperate in online matches. There will also be a monthly leaderboard, which players will be able to climb by winning matches and obtaining Victory Medals.
Ink Showdown: In this new game mode, Piranha Plants spit ink balls from the back edge of the court. Players must destroy the ink balls before they splatter on the ground or on the walls while simultaneously trying to hit tennis balls to the opponent.
Numerous StreetPass Features: Players will be able to use the Nintendo 3DS system’s StreetPass feature to engage in friendly competitions. In addition, once they have played a StreetPass match with a particular opponent, they can face a computer-controlled version of that same opponent in StreetPass matches or cooperative Ring Shot challenges. Players’ Mii characters can also be customized with outfits and accessories to improve their performance on the court, and they can be shown off using the StreetPass.
Unlockable Characters: Numerous Nintendo characters, old and new, can be unlocked in the game, some through standard gameplay, and others through special codes. Unlockable characters include Luma, baby Mario, and Dry Bowser.
As you can see, there are plenty of new features to look forward to. The good thing is, the game will be released in less than 3 weeks. I'll see you on the courts!
