XD, guys! Keep guessing. <3
Oh, and this one is sort of short.
The Unusuals, Part I
The morning brought clouds, many clouds. Regardless of the threat of rain, the city activity continued to bustle.
It happened to be a day with heavy traffic. R.K. sat behind a taxi, trying to reach the closest Unusual as quickly as possible. He agreed to be the first to hunt down an Unusual, and so his move started early in the morning.
Supposedly his target could alter every code known –and not known– to man and machine alike. DN-AI figured that this could be a useful ability for us, so of course I’M going to go along with it. When’s this traffic going to let up? R.K. wondered, almost aloud. He had the ‘brains,’ GPS, horsepower, and awesomeness to complete this quickly, but why did the traffic need to be so thick?
R.K. made a turn at the nearest point and stopped at an apartment complex. He began to honk loudly, as though a thief were trying to steal him away. For about ten minutes, no one responded. R.K., being a car, was sleek, but not sleek enough to go inside a building. He popped his engine hood and projected a machine gun. DN-AI stated that his apartment was 207. Now, I think I see 207 up there… R.K. opened fire on the door. A reckless attempt to get the Unusual’s attention, but R.K. did not have many options at his disposal.
Luckily, or perhaps obviously, R.K.’s idea worked. He put his machine gun away as a person opened the door.
According to R.K.’s cameras, it was a young man who couldn’t have been more than twenty; he seemed to be young, but had a strange look in his bright eyes. R.K. called out, “HEY!”
The person walked out a little more. R.K. noted that he was quite handsome, but moved carefully and cautiously. R.K. backed out of the parking spot he rested in, and opened his side door. However, the person was turning back to his room.
“NO, WAIT! Come back here!” R.K. yelled. Surprisingly, the young man came back out.
“Are you, by chance, called ‘Snake’?”
The person looked amazed. “Yeah, I am!”
R.K. moved back and forth a little out of sheer contentment. “Good, good! I have a proposition for you!”
This kid seemed friendly, in spite of his suspicious behavior. “Why don’t you come up here?” he called back.
“Ah… I can’t do that. Impossible. Please, just come down here. I PROMISE I’m not a kidnapper!”
So, ‘Snake’ walked down reluctantly to the Corvette. “What did you… wait, why is the car—“
R.K. pushed Snake in with his door.
As R.K. strapped him in, he started talking again. “Okay, look, I don’t have a lot of time, but I’m a robot, and you’re a cyborg who can alter any code in the known universe. We need your help. So, lend me some information about yourself.” R.K. took off.
“Wait, wait, I don’t understand…” Snake was scared now.
“SIGH, I said that I’m a automaton –a car robot, if you will– and you’re a cyborg; I’m not working with the government, and me and some friends need your help stopping them and the hackers. If I remember, you were once a hacker?”
“Um, I’m Snake, Snake P. T. Most people call me just ‘Snake’ these days, so I go by that name. And I was a hacker. I learned my lesson.”
“So come on and help us. The powah plans to… I’ll explain later. Just say yes! Please!”
“…
“Okay. I’ll help. Just don’t give me away.”
