It'd be a nice addition, but I wonder if the browser would be able to support it. I think that's more likely be packaged with a firmware upgrade rather than over the DSi Ware store.

I don't see it. The DSi can't handle it unless if they somehow change it in some way that would drastically reduce its hardware requirements which I doubt will ever happen (probably impossible).
