If that was true, DSi would be selling a lot faster then it already is right now. You probably misheard the guy, that's often what people do. They misunderstand then get mad at other people for their own faults. Technically, you can play the original Pokemon games on the DSi, but you're gonna need a hacking tool to do it; something I can not talk about here.
