Please bare with me on this post.

I'm not sure how things work round here due to the fact I'm new. I did a quick search and here are my findings:

Many of the games require friend codes to play so someone creates a thread "looking for friend codes for game xxx" and people post.

Then another member comes along can either join in with the previous thread or may choose to create their own thread "need friends help me!".

I've noticed game hubs, but again this requires people to create a hub and have members either actively looking for a hub to a particular game or to have preivously arranged a meeting to play via hub.

What I've not found however is some form of organised DS game night.

Let me explain:

I'm a member of ubuntuforums (same nick if anyone is curious) and over there we have organised game nights e.g. every Sunday 18:00 GMT everyone knows the game one week in advance and knows what time to log on and what server to choose and we play through that.

In this manner, you can get people interested in a game in advance and then they can log on and you can play for a few hours. This is all done via the forums.

So my suggestion is could we not do the same via the friendcode forums?

So for example we have one main thread, maybe stickied or something like that where we know each Sunday for example at a certain time there will be players playing a certain game, so we can throw that cartridge into our DS and have a little game.

Now I know DS gaming is different to PC gaming and has much more stringent limits as to the number of players and game modes as well as communication modes. But if we had a central topic we could ensure that people are aware that a game is going to take place and connect to the wifi.

In some respect this helps as you know that you'll be signing on when there are other players (especially useful for less known or played games) but at the same time you can also ensure you and your friends are playing at the same time.

Also as the game played will be suggested before hand, people can simply post saying "i'm in" and then if you want the friendcode of that player you can simply click their profile and get this information (assuming they have entered it into their profile) and this also relegates the need for searching through post after post of friendcodes and then having to let everyone know you've added them.

Obviously the problem will be picking a game that everyone will enjoy, but this can be done through a poll of some sort, more over if the "event" is three hours long we could split the games into 3 one hour blasts. In which case we would say:

"Sunday 22 Nov @ 18:00 GMT: Games to be played are Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Hunters, Animal Crossing."

If someone likes this they can say so, and then you can click on their profile download the relevant friend codes and vice versa therefore come Sunday when you sign in you SHOULD find some friends online.


This is just a thought and I'm curious to see what other players think of this. If people like this idea we can do a little test run see how it works and we can therefore see if such a model can be used on the DS.

I'm very interested in other opinions, and any flaws you may see with this model.

Been going through my back catalog of unfinished games and Metroid Prime Hunters is among them. Yes I said Metroid! Ha ha. But anyway, playing through it has really hurt my left hand, which I use to hold/shoot/move with. Especially my thumb. So it dawned on me that some kind of grip might really help.

I'm looking for something along these lines: videogames.techfresh.net/cyber-dsi-game-grip/ except that one isn't available in the US. It's just what I'm looking for. I want to ideally find something I can buy in a store and not order online, mainly because I don't want to wait. Has anyone come across something like that in a Walmart, Gamestop, Target, etc? Doesn't have to be fancy, just give me more to hold on to with my left hand when I play FPS style games!

Note I need one for the DSi, not DS Lite.
