Hardly.
What's being discussed here is the Mayan Calendar, which ends in December 2012. The Mayans were a tribe that were extremely in tune with the solar systems cylces, movements and alignments. They said that these planets cycles connected with our spiritual world, and to a certain extent, they appeared to be correct.
In 1999 the Mayans said that we have 13 years to right our ways, or face inevitable destruction.
Basically the time between 1992 - 2012 was a time of great realisation for mankind, and 2012 we would enter the 6th cycle of the sun, in which a powerful ray from the sun would come down and open the path to The Golden Age.
This, therefore, doesn't mean that on December 21st 2012 the world will explode, or something amazing will happen. It is just saying that the world will enter a new era, and according to the Mayans, depending where our loyalties lie, it could mean great wonder, or huge destruction.
I've studied this a lot, as this kind of stuff interests me. There is a lot more to it, the Mayans history is a really interesting one, and I urge you to look into it and not be scared of it all. Knowledge is an amazing thing.
The Mayans are said to be in the 5th Cycle of the Sun at the moment, but unfortunately there is no historical evidence of supernatural occurences happening 5 times already, which hangs a huge question of doubt over the entire event. Apparently, at the end of the last Cycle, a huge tsunami came and wiped out many of the Mayan civilisation.
Of course, tsunamis are a natural disaster, not a supernatural occurence. Whether it was a planned event, or just weird timing, we will never know. But the Mayans have been right before, so people don't know whether to listen to them, or just think that it's a bunch of balony.
I hope I shed some light onto the subject =]
