I agree with you, Boston's been going downhill fast, their players are getting too old, but if they were to trade big names like Big Papi for a few prospects they could be a threat in about 3 or so years.... The Yanks will only keep winning if they can keep shelling out cash to thier players, if Jeter demands a huge payroll when he hits FA the Yanks might lose him or be forced to cut some other players... Theres nothing set in stone about the Yankees

It's New York we're talking here. Why would he leave a team that he has been a face of for almost a decade now? Plus why would he leave a team that just won a World Series?

I wouldn't worry about the whole "payroll" situation though. N.Y.has tons of it lying around out there somewhere.

They probably could genetically engineer a stronger, faster, wiser Jeter if they wanted to, with all the money they have burning a hole in their back pocket.

lol, it would be against the rules though.

I thought the same about Jeter, but the word around the sport sites is that he might be considering following the money... Greedy piece of crap if he is, I wouldn't worry to much if I was NYY though, he'll definately want more money but he's probably going to stay there.

True at the moment NYY doesn't have to worry about payroll but if they keep giving out contracts that are over half the total salary of the Marlins then they might need to start worrying. It be too long untill Many's contract is matched by a NYY player.

Sometimes I wish baseball had sal. caps like football but then again, baseball is the American sport, free market economy for all XD

I know and it ticks me off!!! I doubt they will though, if one player gets it everyone will think they can get a contract like that, if anyone would make NYY pay that much money it will be Jeter though.
