Re: fav. anime? - 08-11-07

Oh I have read them, numerous of times. It never gets old. I just hate when I go to the kitchen for a drink I have to pause it, instead of just listening to it. Though, I'd so prefer subtitles than crappy voice over any day of the week.

Nah, that would just ruin it - dubbing and voicing often ruins what would otherwise be alright animes; just look at Bleach and Naruto. I think that the original japanese voices bring an authenticity to the table that American voices just can't, except in rare cases, like in Cowboy Bebop and the Ghost in the Shell Movies. Especially if Loveless is as good as you say - the last thing I'd want is for something so enjoyable to be degraded.

Also, Iwetarded has reminded me that Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi is awesome as well.

No, then the accents would create phrases like this:

'Youu! Ovah dheyuh! Youu won'teh getuh ahwayee witeh disu!'

And it would be more comical than it would be anything else. I honestly think that we just need to get different voice actors for each anime - it really bugs when you hear the same voices on multiple characters in one anime (ie several of the women in the Tenchi series') or when you hear the same voice in two or three different characters in different anime (ie Spike in Bebop and Mugen in Champloo were voiced by the same guy, which was especially annoying because both series were by Watanabe and it just bugged).

Maybe we should get Speak & Spells for the subtitles when we're in the kitchen or eating or whatever.

hahaha I didn't think about that. That'd be so funny though.

EDIT: as long as it's not on Loveless :[

Re: fav. anime? - 08-11-07

You wanna hear Japanese people do english? =\
Watch Beck, and you will realize that you will NEVER EVER request that again.
I just wish so much that more anime would either be
1. dubbed better
or
2. more subbed was released here
Out of all the dubbed I have watched though, Bleach is one of the few that really isn't too shabby along with old favorites like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. I just wanna know what has happened now that we have all this s*** dubs.

Of course if anybody notices, dubs do have one fatal flaw. When dubbed is released on DVD, they charge WAAAAAAAY too much for a single DVD. Over here you get about 3 - (MAYBE) 5 episodes per DVD for about $20. Yet you can buy subbed versions of the COMPLETE series for around $20.

My suggestion to everybody. If you plan to buy any anime DVDs at all,
check out places like eBay first before buying them at stores. I have bought countless series for really cheap online.

Oh, almost forgot, I completely and UTTERLY hate Naruto in every form, face, or fashion ever created. Nobody here better start complaining to me either, I watched the series AND read the manga some, so I know what I am saying. =\

Personally, I've got to say FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell 1 and 2 (the movies, not the horrendous anime series depictions), Serial Experiments Lain, and Fist of the North Star are my favorite anime productions. Miyazaki makes some pretty good stuff too, though - I'll happily watch anything he's produced.
Well currently I don't watch Any American dubbed Anime, I just won't accept the bad dubbing they did with Naruto. So I stick to Fansubs, Currently I'm on Naruto Shippuuden, which by far rocks.

My favourite anime is one piece, the dub of one piece is probably the worst thing i have ever seen in my life. It hurts me to watch it, darn the dubs, they ruin it all. I also like Bleach, Naruto, Bo-bo-bo-bo-bo, note, and most other Jump manga's. I tend to read manga more than watch anime personally.

I always watch in japanese with subs, it doesn't bother me that much. I learn japanese at school too, so i can often understand what's going on in the anime without the subs. =]]

But i'm not gonna get ahead of myself, i still need subtitiles.
