I say look at the songs that the games have and choose the game that has the songs that you like. I have both, but for gh:wt, I only got the guitar kit because all of the instruments require a wii mote; sadly, I only have one. The rock band instruments use USB on the wii to connect, so there in no problem. Only the microphone needs the wii mote on the rock band wii game. I hope I helped.

I think Rockband is better you dont need the wiimote to be on as you play so it wont waste batterie life. I also find it more fun to play.
