FFVII is overrated. Extremely overrated.
The only reason people like it is because it was
- Their first RPG
- Their first Final Fantasy
- Their first game
- Their first PlayStation game (showing new graphics etc.)
Or, simply put, they have bad taste. If you talk to people that were gaming well before FFVII's released, you realise most of theme wouldn't rate it.
Think about it... no. Just look at it. Look at them. Look at those sprites. Seriously. WTF.
I've had FFVII since launch, I played it for a few hours but couldn't put up with the terrible BULLDOZER-LIKE HANDS and generally terrible graphics. It was terrible. The story looked like a joke with those graphics. TER-RI-BLE. It's still there, incomplete.
Anyway, what was the story people boast about? Some guy with a huge sword (gunblade? No, gunblades didn't exist until later... right? I wouldn't know) going around in his little RESISTANCE that consisted of some girl that can use fists which is pretty pointless when they had guns, some guy with a machine gun and that's it. They go around RESISTING things and then some dude with girly silver hair comes in and kills some other girl that hardly existed in the story until then and then the big sword guy and him have a fight. The end.
FFVI on the other hand was a lot better. Not many people played it because they didn't own a SNES or
GBA at the time or didn't hear about it because it was low profile like myself. I played FFVI a few months ago to be honest and it was great. Story was interesting, it has good character development and didn't centre about just one character, great music and good graphics. It was a great RPG. Probably up there in my top 5 RPGs of all time.
SMG? I haven't played it so I wouldn't know.
