I'm not opposed to any intellectual discussions, but i don't think it is right to ostracize the noobs outright. I'm still pretty new, and i guess i fit in that category, so i don't have much say in the matter, but as long as debates don't turn into flame-wars(which they usually do), its good. However, i do agree that the amount of pokemon threads is a little bit dramatic.

holding exciting debates is pretty much impossible nowadays. i mean either you have the debaters who dont know anything at all (biochicken, hellraiser, ch0pstix, etc), the debaters who ARE knowledgeable (alt, metaknight18, tsun, etc) or you have those who dont care. back in like 07 or whenever serious discussions was first put in place, it had some really good discussions (mainly because a lot of members at the time were good at debating) but now trying to get healthy debates going is impossible

but yeah basically most people here aren't fit to debate without turing it into a flame war/golden axer ordeal
