Essentially, a failure of a human woman drives up to an AT&T store fifteen minutes before the iPhones start selling with $16 grand, and shells out $800 for a number-one spot in line. She was planning on buying out the whole store and reselling the iPhones on Ebay for profit, but was informed of the "one phone per customer" rule and left, $1400 in the hole.
Meanwhile, the upstanding fellow she paid for the spot in line gets his phone, along with all the extra goodies and peripherals without spending a dime of his own money.
I guess that's karma for you.
