One of the main thing to remember while structuring an essay is:
PQA:
P: Point- make your point about what you are talking about. Example
I think that in the book "of mice and men" (wich you should study at GCSE) i think that the main character George is a father figure to lennie.
Q: Quote- Use a quote to support your awnser and give a base to your argument. Example- This is shown through the continual fartherly commands given to lennie by george throught the book such as "Dont drink the water lennie"
A: Anyalisis- Now go on to explain the quote and your point. (you can use more quotes) After telling lennie simple commands, george then explains them like a father would to a child. An example of this would be " Dont drink the water, its still and could be bad for you"
Obvoiusly go into more detail, i was just giving some examples, but doing this guarantes you an A grade if you use it effectivly.

That is a good short answer to a question.
You can expand on each area of PQA and go into more depth, i just did a brief outline. I once wrote 2 whole pages using that technique. You can also use PQA multiple times throughout an essay to make each point.
Remeber to also include an introduction about what you are writing about, and a conclusion to sum up your essay.
In the conclusion, briefly go over all the points you have made and proven.
In the introduction, go over what you are writing about, and your overall opinion about the question or statment you have been given.
Hope this helps =)
