It's clearly because the staff members are free to flaunt around and abuse powers all we want without any repercussions. Didn't Antonie and I make that obvious enough before he left? Or Jake?
This thread was closed because Nintendo Elf was flaming members of staff, as were a few other members? I don't know, I was out all night last night.
The thread was reopened, wasn't it? Quitcho•••••in'.
Obviously you guys are free to express yourselves, provide an argument, and petition to get username changes whenever you freaking feel like it, but think of it this way.
The reason members were allowed to change their usernames originally was because the temp. forums were a completely new forum- a place to start over, you know? Some people made new usernames because they felt they could, and ended up liking those usernames more. This was a very nice gesture of the mods and admins of the site, and maybe could be considered an apology for the several months of a temporary forum?
As for why staff can 'freely' change their usernames, I don't really know. I know a few members changed them to make themselves look a little more professional, to give the site a better vibe. For example, would you rather have xXMegaxxPhoneXx have an administrative role, or just the name Nikki? It just makes the website as a whole look a little more tidied up, in my opinion.
Also, consider it a benefit of being on staff, perhaps? Changing usernames is not really a difficult task. As far as I know, it's just a few clicks and typing the desired username- but consider the burden on the admins who have to do all that work! I can almost
promise you that if people were free to change their usernames, you would have a group of people who want to change their usernames almost daily, followed by the stash of people who just feel it's time for a change. There's no real way to contact members on these forums, so users would do one of the following:
-Make a thread called "Change My Username To This!!!!!"
-Post in a thread that would be made for username changes.
-Pager an admin
-PM an admin
And all of those options would still be outrageously hard to keep a track of, and would in the end just get annoying. That's how I see it, at least.
Seriously, I realize that the members of Friendcodes get to dictate how Friendcodes is as a whole, but just because you kids don't get what you want for once doesn't mean you have to start knocking the website.
That means you, Estavan, you know Friendcodes isn't dying.
Anyway, this has been my few cents. I'm sure I can elaborate more, but I just spent like, 15 minutes typing this, that should have been spent on my huge English paper.
