Quoting myself in a thread in the Staff section.

Literally, my question is, why do they think they can change their usernames whenever? The only time I've ever had a forum like that is where you could buy a name change, but you could also buy the options to bold your username, color it, etc.

Like, I chose to be Tsun because I assumed I couldn't change it, because that's how forums usually are.

Coolza, as soon as the crash happened, and they made the rule, I immediately took a stand. If you don't believe me, check back. I have been a long time disapprover of this rule, and will continue to be.

I don't even remember having the ability to change my username whenever I felt the need to way back when, man.

it all really started when some people got to change their name after the crash when people had different names on the temporary site. Then when the rules was reposted, people got mad, including me that we could not get name changes when we wanted them. The fire was only fed when staff could change their names all they wanted. It was fed again more recently when staff once again started changing their names. My last straw was when I had this thread closed when it really didn't break any rules.

So true. Pick the name that you want and stick with it when you register here on the forums.

If your not sure what name to pick, then pick the name that is most common to you or just use your regular name with numbers in it.
Its just a forum name and doens't make people think less of you, well
it doesn't make ME think less of any of you.

Don't be silly, SoSik. Why on earth would anyone miss the oppertunity to lead FC.com into a revolution with the many adoring fans they have, and talk about (despite almost everyone disagreeing with him).

[/sarcasm]

Honestly, I don't know what to say, especially after what you replied to Eric with in his profile.

No matter how many times we tell you that staff don't get special treatment, that the staff name changes were made because it was more professional, not because someone posted "I would lyke r nayme chnge plx0r! lulz" in the staff forum. =/

But, by all means, you carry on with your cause...

It's clearly because the staff members are free to flaunt around and abuse powers all we want without any repercussions. Didn't Antonie and I make that obvious enough before he left? Or Jake?

This thread was closed because Nintendo Elf was flaming members of staff, as were a few other members? I don't know, I was out all night last night.

The thread was reopened, wasn't it? Quitcho•••••in'.

Obviously you guys are free to express yourselves, provide an argument, and petition to get username changes whenever you freaking feel like it, but think of it this way.

The reason members were allowed to change their usernames originally was because the temp. forums were a completely new forum- a place to start over, you know? Some people made new usernames because they felt they could, and ended up liking those usernames more. This was a very nice gesture of the mods and admins of the site, and maybe could be considered an apology for the several months of a temporary forum?

As for why staff can 'freely' change their usernames, I don't really know. I know a few members changed them to make themselves look a little more professional, to give the site a better vibe. For example, would you rather have xXMegaxxPhoneXx have an administrative role, or just the name Nikki? It just makes the website as a whole look a little more tidied up, in my opinion.

Also, consider it a benefit of being on staff, perhaps? Changing usernames is not really a difficult task. As far as I know, it's just a few clicks and typing the desired username- but consider the burden on the admins who have to do all that work! I can almost promise you that if people were free to change their usernames, you would have a group of people who want to change their usernames almost daily, followed by the stash of people who just feel it's time for a change. There's no real way to contact members on these forums, so users would do one of the following:
-Make a thread called "Change My Username To This!!!!!"
-Post in a thread that would be made for username changes.
-Pager an admin
-PM an admin

And all of those options would still be outrageously hard to keep a track of, and would in the end just get annoying. That's how I see it, at least.

Seriously, I realize that the members of Friendcodes get to dictate how Friendcodes is as a whole, but just because you kids don't get what you want for once doesn't mean you have to start knocking the website.

That means you, Estavan, you know Friendcodes isn't dying.

Anyway, this has been my few cents. I'm sure I can elaborate more, but I just spent like, 15 minutes typing this, that should have been spent on my huge English paper.

Well, the problem is that it isn't fair to normal members that the staff get to change their name and we don't. Yes, I realize that they don't anymore, but it is only a mater of time til it happens again as it has before.

You could always just consider it a benefit of being on staff. In return for helping Friendcodes become the amazing site it is, you get to change your username.

And besides, you make that seem like it's a HUGE thing. Aside from Jake, who felt like he needed a new screen name to match the hours in a day, no other members have changed their names much.

I didn't change Tsun to Kiley when I got on staff, now did I?

That's because back then nobody was complaining. And if anything, they were mostly minor changes (capitalization, number removal, etc.)
