what is a paper and pen RPG?????

I'm confused:confused:, me and my friend were wondering what a paper and pen rpg was. IF anybody could tell me THE RIGHT ANSWER, ill give them karma. But only for the right answer.

Like Dungeons and Dragons. A "pen and paper" RPG is a role playing board game (not necessarily requiring a board) in which you record stats and a large part of the game using pen and paper.

Like Alt said. Pen and Paper RPG books would have something like:

You reach the blah blah blah. Role a dice.

If the result is above 4, turn to page 46 and remove 1 from your crew.
If the result is 4 or lower, continue to the next page and add 1 match to your inventory.

Later on you would need that match to go to another page, maybe? Who knows.

Anyway, that's how it works.

An excerpt from the 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons Player's Handbook

Alek, a 6th-level human wizard with an Intelligence of 18, is trying to identify a strange creature by using the Arcana skill. His base skill check bonus is +12, which includes a +3 for one-half his level, his +4 Intelligence modifier, and a +5 bonus for being trained in Arcana. To see if he identifies the creature, he rolls 1d20 and adds 12. If he rolls a 7, his check result is 19. Since the DC to identify the creature is 15, he realizes it's a quickling.

If you enjoy rolling dice and have an active imagination and a couple of friends, you could give Dungeons and Dragons a try (or other various role-playing games).

Lans parries your blow through advanced evasion techniques. Resultant damage is dealt to side party members, total: 256 / 4 = 64. Lans mounts his maned-Woodruff and attacks using Fire Mace. Tactical RPG's are my kind of thing. I tried D&D i didn't enjoy it. You have to have an imagination. I know i can't do that!!! I make TV and Games do it for me.
