AI gone wrong?

I was watching the science channel and there was this show about AI and how people are using it in building robots. The thing that got my attention was the part where they were talking about robots becoming self aware and conscious enough to start a rebellion which sounds kinda freaky.

Do you guys think robots might actually become smart enough to do such a thing if humans actually came to pushing AI to its limit. To me it sounds kinda sci-fi but very convincing.

I'm sure it could happen. Computer "brains" have been proven to be smarter than their human counterparts.

it is possible for AI to develop individual quirks. i believe the term is "ghost in the shell", a buildup of random code that occurs in an AI can result in the development of quirks and even rudimentary personality (in theory).

in the long run this "ghost in the shell" (also known as "ghost in the machine" i choose to say ghost in the shell because it's one of my fav anime) phenomenon may even result in self awareness as an individual.

These are the words that come to mind when an MGS fan hears the word AI. In MGS2, an AI named JD (I think) pretended to be Colonel Campbell, but messed up and started saying random things like that. AI's will never be able to replace humans. Robots are (and will always be) flawed. They can't replace the human instinct, emotion, and uniqueness.
