Mario is old and boring after the 9 hundredth time of doing the same thing over and over it's boring. People are just to ashamed to admit it. The only real difference between Galaxy and Super Mario 64 was the entire game was played on rainbow road and it was upside down.

Final Fantasy has been around for what seems just as long, but at least their trying to give a new story and gameplay mechanics. I'm tired of people scapegoating Mario as the almighty Lord of Video games. He jumped a few barrels, saved the same brain dead princess who was in a different castle 40 times and ate enough mushrooms to make Bob Marley look sober. Point is he had his 15 years of fame, let it go.

*Snickers* he IS stretchingit out a bit. You'd be surprised at how many people would moan if they took him away, though. Nintendo would suffer huge losses from less game buys. Besides, some of his games are okay-ish like Mario Kart, Super Mario Brothers DS (Me lostz it :( ) but I say he really is stretching it out a bit.
