360 backwadrs compatibility issues

Ok, so first i bought Halo: CE and tried to play it on my 360 (connected to live with HDD), but I got the message "Could not run game. Please download the game again". I thought when you connected to live it automatically updated backwards compatibility, but I guess it didn't. So I burned a disk like it said in troubleshooting; it said it was updated, but the same thing happened again. So, I though it might be the game. I returned Halo and got Star Wars: Republic Commando, hoping it would work, but it didnt; the same thing happened. I think it might be my console, since it is refurbished (I dont know why that would make a difference, though). I am stumped! Anyone have any suggestions?

what you could do is buy halo:CE from the marketplace, I think you get some achievements in it aswell. Have you contacted Microsoft about it?

microsoft has the worst customer service EVER! I posted this exact question on the xbox forum, and...no replies. the xbox help line is COMPLETELY AUTOMATED, so i cant even speak to a real human...

Ive spoken to a real human when I called Microsoft before...But she was indian so I couldnt understand her. Call up Windows and when you finnally get through to a real human (just make stuff up during the automated part) tell them that you are having a problem with your xbox360 and they will put you through to Xbox customer Support, make sure you ask to speak with a real human though.

The Xbox uses an emulator not an actual disc reader. The PS3 had the same problem, it will run some games, but not others. You could always send it in to be looked at.
