PS3 failing?

Okay, so I know this guy who wants to sell me his 60GB PS3 with 13 games (games including Guitar Hero 3 [with guitar], CoD4, Ratchet and Clank and more), a charging station, extra Dualshock 3 controller and the official Sony Bluetooth Headset for $650. Firstly, I need to know, if this a good price? But the price isn't the reason why I made this thread. His PS3 is out of warranty and I'm afraid that it might ruin after it's bought. I heard repairing cost (if you're out of warranty) is $150 plus shipping and handling. So I need to know..does the PS3 ruin often? What's its failure rate? Does it burn out quickly? I need answers soon..

I have only heard one or two stories of PS3's failing, and the 60gb model is Backwards compatible.
Of course, I'd ask the guy why he's selling it first.

NO! ps3's not Reliable! it overheats like 360! its as heavy as a microwave!

I know, the 60GB is the best one. 4 USBs, flash card readers and backwards compatible.

yeah it can over heat if you leave it on for way to long or have it in an enclosed area. i left my PS3 on for 24 hours. and it didnt over heat once. (was playing Eternal Sonata in a doungen with only 1 save spot) the games and headset would cost more than the system alone and then the controller would cost alot. and its a 60GB with BC. so i say you got a really good deal.

i envy you though my PS3 broke because part of my TV stand fell on it while it was playing so my LBP is stuck and it wont work.

Two words in one FanBoy, I've had my ps3 over a year now and not even a game has froze yet I had a 360 for 3 months and it got the rrod.

Lol! I have a friend who got the RRod 3 times in less than 6 months.

So the majority of the posts are telling me that I should be okay. (Except for the microwave guy). So I'm probably going to buy it. Unless someone has something to say..

The price is great, the PS3 is very sturdy so you don't have to worry about it ruining it doesn't burn out quickly either. The PS3 doesn't fail at all its just people don't get it because it cost so much.
