To all the hardcore wanna-bes out their... do you really conser yourself a hardcore gamer? If yes, then you should know that being a hardcore gamer is more then just being interested in Halo or any other game a core gamer would like.
|
I don't "conser" myself anything. All I know is that games are about having fun. This "hardcore" vs. "casual" thing is stupid.

Firstly, you should know that theirs more to a console then meets the eye (lol Transformers). You should appect the fact that the Wii isn't next gen. Accoreding to an article made not too long ago, The Wii doesn't have enough "RAM" to produce next gen games. A PS3's 700 RAM MR vs. the Wii's 200ish RAM MR. Something like that. I'm not saying the Wii is a bad system. I'm just saying your better off with a PS3 or Xbox 360.

You're correct and wrong at the same time. You're correct because the
Wii isn't next gen. It's current gen. You're wrong because the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are also current gen.
The graphics and power of the system aren't relevant. The
Wii is competing with the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 in this generation of consoles. That makes it current gen. Whether you're better off with a PS3 or Xbox 360 is also completely subjective.
The
Wii has plenty of good games if you can sift through the shovelware that some companies have been putting out to make a quick buck. No More Heroes, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, de Blob, Mario Kart
Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3, and Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, among many others, are all worth a try. There are also some non-exclusives with motion control that can be fun as well.

Secondly, Tiers exist. You just need to face the fact that your favorite charater sucks. But don't be discourge. Who knows? You may win a tournament with that charater...
|
Tiers exist in Super Smash Bros. Brawl if you strip away items and other parts of the game (such as certain stages). Those things are fun though, and many people may prefer to play with them. I personally do. Tiers are somewhat subjective and not completely definite, but they give a general idea of the strengths of certain characters when you play under conditions when there are no items and a limited number of stages to choose from.
Otherwise they don't mean anything at all. If you play with items, a good Ganondorf may get a clock, slow down the other person and then proceed to stomp him into oblivion. A good falco, fox or mario may be able to reflect an item at the right moment using the reflector or cape respectively. Items and conditions on certain stages act as an equalizer which, in my opinion, makes the game more fun.
Tiers exist in other fighting games too. They also exist in racing games and numerous other multiplayer games. Some characters are simply better than others in most multiplayer games. Whether you agree on a specific tier list or not is one thing, but I think everybody can agree that in most games, some characters are superior to others.

Thirdly, you need to be actually good. Learn some techniques if necessary. You can't just beat the game on easy mode your whole life. Try hard mode! Beat a boss at a low level! If at first you don't succeed, try try again. Win a tournament, do whatever it takes to win.
|
No, you don't need to actually do anything. You're playing a game, and you should be having fun. If you enjoy a challenge, then playing hard mode is fine. Playing on harder modes doesn't automatically make you anything except for good at certain games.
Again, this hardcore vs. casual thing is stupid. If you only play games that you personally consider "hardcore" or that others only do, you're missing out on lots of fun games.
