If graphics and power of a system aren't relevant how come they come up in every debate or choice about which system to buy? No offense, but saying that they aren't relevant is just wrong.
|
They aren't relevant to whether or not the
Wii is current gen, and that's all I was saying. The
Wii would be a current gen console whether it had worse graphics than the NES or whether it had better graphics than the PS3. Graphics and power aside,
Wii is current gen and from the same gen as Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 either way. I am not arguing that the
Wii is better than the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. I merely was contesting a few nonsense points made by the person who posted this thread. As you said, graphics and power may very well be relevant to a discussion about which console is superior, but they are not relevant as to whether the
Wii is current-gen. The
Wii being current-gen is indisputable fact.

You shouldn't have to "sift" through to find good games. They should be apparent when you buy a console. If you don't know if the games on a console are what you want, then you my friend bought the wrong console. The Wii has great games, but the ratio of good:crap is horrible (Maybe like 1:25), that's my problem with the Wii
|
All consoles have bad games. PS2 had lots and lots of horrible games too. The Gamecube honestly probably had a better ratio of good to bad games than the Playstation 2, yet I'd still consider the Playstation 2 to be the better console. How many crappy games there are for a system shouldn't matter since the
Wii also has plenty of great games, the likes of which have no equivalents on PC, Playstation 3 or Xbox 360. Nintendo cannot control companies like Ubisoft (who, by the way, at the same time also published No More Heroes, a fantastic game).
And no, the Nintendo
Wii isn't equivalent to the Playstation 2. None of the current consoles this generation are.

No-one plays games for the reason of being "hardcore" mate. People play games more then the average person. That's what makes them hardcore.

In essence I agree. Thus by that logic, anybody can be hardcore playing on any gaming console and playing any games. However, the terms "hardcore" and "casual" have been misconstrued several times over by the original poster of this thread. That was my main point of my argument.
