I dont know, apparently when a PS3 overheats and has issues, it has a yellow light, similar to the 360's red ones. Haven't seen it myself and hadn't heard of it until he mentioned it. Then again, I'm not much of a Playstation follower.
Here, check this video. It pretty much explains everything, including warranty information.

The 360 is supposed to roll out with the Jasper chip setup this year isnt it? I heard that the Jasper setup gets rid of the RROD. That video is probably back in the first version of 360s.

I read somewhere that they are allready included in newer Xbox's. I dont know though.
I had that when I bought mine on launch day. Sony wouldn't replace since it wasn't a "known" problem so I just angrily went back to the store and got a new 60GB one. Sold the broken one on ebay to some modder who fixed it up and modded it. I also sold it for 800$ :D I made money yay. Personally, I've had my 360 since October 2007 and it hasn't failed me since and I have to say that I play it quite a lot. The only reason a 360 gets RROD is if it's in a badly ventilated area which will clog the air vents and make the gpu disconnect with the main motherboard which will result in the E74 error. Same thing happened with my gamecube and my dusty bedroom yet no one's complaining.

You just gt really unlucky then lucky. Just saying my xbox could not have been in a more ventilated place when it got the rrod.
Can't help but laugh at all the xbots giving kieryn negative rep because he posted a broken console... AS A JOKE. He thinks it's funny that they're using a RROD'd console as a display model.
