What's With All This Console War Stuff?

So, over the years I've had to put up with these people who have an obsession with demeaning any console that isn't their favourite. For example, there are people who would bash me to a pulp for stating that I have no problem with playing my Wii. The same people who'd defend their favourite to the death extent of swearing and insulting your relatives who they've never met. I really hate this "OMG OMG FPS NOOB PLAYS AN FPS LOL HAS NO TASTE." Personally, I play a few FPSes here and there but I'm really into the RPG side of things. But do I bash other people for not liking the same things? No!

Basically, I think that if you like a system, you suck (no offence.) I think that people should like games for the games they are, not because they're on a certain system. A game might have good graphics, or great music, but then another game on the same system could be horrible in both respects, and yet have an incredible gameplay idea.

So, what's your opinion? Do you stereotype games by their system, or do you like games for their individual ups and/or downs?

I don't see what the problem is with liking a system. You just shouldn't criticize another person for not sharing your feelings :U It's mostly wittle babbies that do this anyway, so no need to pay attention to them.
I only have a Wii and PC, so I can't say much about this topic. Most (AAA) PC games are ports of console games, unfortunately. In the case that I had another system where the same game would release on, I'd probably get it for PC because I've come to prefer keyboard+mouse above controller in most cases.
If I were to get another console it would probably be a PS3, because having one disc for (large) games is more practical. That, and I don't agree with the way Microsoft deals with the indie marketplace, among other things. I'm also really looking forward to The Last Guardian.
Each system has their merits. Game exclusivity (between PS3 and 360) is super lame anyway.

And its unnecessary for people to bash systems, I agree.
I suppose its like a civil war in the gamer world. We all live being called a "gamer", yet we fight about which is better.

The wii sucks, pokemon sucks... I like call of duty black ops on the xbox 360. I'm fine if anyone else liking there own consoles, and I'll defend my console if that is bashed...

I don't know how is this considered, but since I like Nintendo franchises the best I guess I like games because of their system :P

I gotta admit other consoles have good games I'd like to play (like RE5 and the new Mortal Kombat), but I have my reasons not to get another one: I refuse to pay for playing online (especially when most online gamers aren't fair players) or they're too expensive and their exclusive games aren't appealing enough to me. However, just because I don't play in other consoles it doesn't mean they suck.

I also agree that bashing other consoles only because you're fan of a certain one is unnecessary, especially if it's for meaningless reasons like graphics.

I tend to not bash consoles. I mean sure, my favorite is probably PS3, followed closely by Wii, then 360 last, but I don't hate the 360 or anything. I have compliments, and complaints, for not only those three consoles, but every one I've ever played.

I also tend to not judge games by what system they're on. I like certain games that are on exclusive consoles, but I don't just say PS3 and Wii are the only ones with good games. I happen to think Gears Of War looks pretty fun, even though I'm not a massive 360 fan, as an example.

A lot of people are just really close-minded. They like what they like, and everyone else is wrong, no matter what. I actually tend to feel bad for these people really, because they're missing out on all the great things the consoles they're bashing have to offer.

I for one love all consoles, no mater how old or how new, whether or not they have good graphics, or what they can or cannot do. Nothing is perfect, everything has its foibles and that's why people aquire a taste for certain things.

Bashing other consoles is dumb. If you don't like a certain console then fine don't I'm not gonna change your opinion bro. There are different things a person likes from a certain console for example: For PS3 you don't pay for internet but Xbox you do. Now I'm not for sure but I've been told by my friends who own the two consoles.... and yeah they bash on the consoles. Whenever I'm asked if I have a PS3, Xbox, or wii I say "I have a wii" them "wii sucks, you should get *insert console name*" what do I say? "I like the wii".

Real gamers love the game not the system IMO so i will not get on the wii subject but as far as pokemon goes *raises cutlass* dems my good sir are dueling words
