Seems the Game Industry has been hurting lately.

My sis was going though Yahoo, when the article caught her attention. So she told me about it and I read. You can read it in the spoiler or or the source I'll provide.

After I read this I read some of the comment below. There were two people that I felt made some good points.

"Costs are more than a lot of people can afford. So buyers are a lot more frugal now days and purchase fewer games and accessories. Plust I know plenty of people who use their consoles to watch netflix nowdays and hardly ever fire up a game in them so turning the systems into an entertainment center is probably biting them as well. But from a couple friends who work at video game retailors it's mainly the costs that are killing them."

"Unfortunately, most people have a console then have the latest CoD or Battlefield then Madden. Those are the real people killing the industry. Its all about demand. There have been great gems that have been passed over because they are not AAA titles. Demand people, the industry will respond to the masses. And it sucks that the "masses" are in the tank for the latest FPS's"

So what do you guys think. For me,I noticed that aside for pokemon games, I really haven't bought a lot of games over the year. Usually my average would be 7-10 games per year. This year its was 3. WWE '12, Mario Tennis, and HyperDemension Neptune. So I can see this being true. I do fell that it might be because there is just too much of the same.

Is this for new game sales or used game sales?

If I remember right, they don't get money for used games. The sale from what I read is from console and new game sales over the last few years.

Valve understands this and has sales on games pretty often, the biggest ones during Christmas and Summer. Not like 10% off, last summer they had up to 75% off. Of course Steam is an online service and makes all your games accessible from any computer you use. This issue is only really affecting the consoles. Also, no company makes money off of used games, that is why some of the consoles, might just get rid of the idea of selling your game to someone else.
