Should Sega leave the Third-Party Market for CGI animated films?

Would you still be content with Sega, if they left their current stance as third-party developers to pursue a different goal? After seeing a short CGI movie "Night of the Werehog." I had to wonder, if they could have a better chance in that media-- than their current one?

Would you still support Sega, if they left the gaming business for feature films or do you want the best of both worlds?

If I didn't have a chose; I would definitely take an animated series of something like this:

I thought I was the only one that thought of this. Their CGI animation is superb. The introduction of Sonic Unleashed made me wonder if it can compare to SQUARE ENIX, if you look back at the Dissidia Final Fantasy Openings.

I believe, both of those companies were using the Havoc engine for a time-- that could be the reason, they looked similar. But, I do agree, Squareenix can muster some powerful CGI as well.

I really do hope "Night of the Werehog" isn't the last of it's kind, though. They should make more of these.

Is this something that is in the works? Or rumored? Because i think it could be a good idea. Fans i'm sure would love it, if they were making Sonic films of course, or y'know, other franchises they are reputed for...>> i can't think of any others.
I know my sister would love/hate it because all she plays are Sonic games.

No, this was never confirmed by any source or even rumored. It was an idea, I was contemplating for sometime, that's all. I wouldn't mind it at all, but I do feel for your sister. Haha.

I think they should just keep making their games. Movies are great and all but a theatrical video game is where it's at! You play that moovee.

Well before we know it all of our favorite video game companies will be making movies and...oh wait...>.>

It turns out that SEGA actually has their own place about working on CGI's. It's called "Marza Animation Planet". Home of SEGA's CGI Animation Studio.
They mainly work on video game openings, such as the "Sonic Riders" series, "Mario&Sonic" Olympic series, and many other SEGA titles. The director of Sonic Unleashed left SEGA/Sonic Team to actually work with SQUARE ENIX in 2009.

Note: SEGA develops the Mario&Sonic Olympic series.

But anyway, their work is always Fantastic :)
