How much longer do you think this system will live?
Are you glad there are games still being made for it?

I think it should have died out at least at the begining of this year, maybe in towards the summer.
I wonder if this is the main reason we see sloppy ports of new games on Wii.
Why are devs and Sony keeping this alive? Maybe Sony knows it's hurting the Wii, or maybe even if it were dead devs would just make these games as if they were PS2 games?
What are your thoughts?

Sony makes 10 year consoles, meaning, even when a next gen console is released, the last gen console is still alive for the people who don't want to upgrade right away.

ps1's were still HUGELY popular when ps2 came out, because the ps2 came with a 300 dollar price tag

Look at the ps3 launch, ps2's sold more than ps3s the first month of launch, because of it's 600 price tag.

It's all a matter or marketing and pricing that make people want to switch. I'm happy the ps2 is still alive and kicking for the next year or so. Gives people some time. :]

Honestly, it really doesn't make a difference to me... I have a PS3, so I buy PS3 games, they can go on with their PS3 business if they want to.

I know what you mean about the price tag, I waited till just this year to grab a PS3 at the new price.
I sold my PS2 way back to help pay for my Wii.

Yeah it's true that some people don't want to upgrade just yet. That's how Sony sees it and that's why their systems last so long. I do think that it will die this year though. Just a thought but who knows, anything can happen.

It's being supported to 2010 I believe. I think it's a good thing, I didn't get a ps1 until the ps2 came out and didn't get a ps2 until about 3 years ago. I only got a PS3 January of this year, so the PS2 carried me over 'til then
