Rock Band: AC/DC In The Works? (RUMOR)

Not being a Guitar Hero/Rock Band enthusiast myself, even I wonder why I posted this. I guess I just thought it was interesting and wanted to share with you guys, I'm sure there's a lot of you who would love to hear this news.

AC/DC fans rejoice, because according to Kotatu, rumor has it that Harmonix, in a tip of the hat to Activision's artist-specific Guitar Hero games, is planing to release a new version of Rock Band featuring none other than AC/DC. (and with it, the whole shebang of T-shirts, branded guitar controllers, faceplates, etc etc etc...) It's not yet known if it's going to be a stand-alone disc or a massive DLC pack, but hopefully it will do better than Guitar Hero: Aerosmith's lackluster sales...

But the question is, why doesn't anyone make an Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath game? >:(

No offense, but this is old news. The game has had AC/DC confirmed for months.

This game comes out for one of four systems in less than a week...and while I appreciate the excitement and all, it would've been nice if you looked into your sources a bit more before posting something like this. A quick visit to Rockband.com could have cleared this up. You also could have simply checked the confirmed song list that has been up here for quite a while.

As for your second question... No one makes an Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath game probably because they can't find Master recordings or one of the parties involved with the music doesn't want to sign on (i.e. -- record label, copyright holder, or even the band itself). Every single individual involved in the making of the track has to sign on, or there can be no release (this is the problem for signing on a lot of artists; certain parties usually want ridiculous deals that Harmonix or another music video game developer cannot meet).

I couldn't have known, as I said I'm no RB/GH enthusiast. Besides, I didn't find any threads about it, so why not make one? I didn't do anything wrong. News is always old news for some, new news for others.

The new rock band commercial shows that AC/DC will be on it and there will be 500+ songs. The 500+ songs were new to me rofl. I don't think guitar hero 4 will even have 500 songs, unless thje 500+ songs of rockband mean DLC.

No, you could have known, and I did try to explain in a simple and friendly manner how you would have gone about doing that. I'm not saying you did anything wrong, but that also doesn't change the fact that the first post and "(RUMOR)" portion of the title are still quite misleading. I do appreciate that you're trying to keep the community informed -- and for that you've received karma -- but I just think in the future, it isn't that hard to be prudent, and to take an extra look around before creating a brand new thread that will probably be viewed by many other individuals.

The 500+ songs include all the DLC that is already out for Rock Band, plus the original game tracks from Rock Band (excluding the few that wouldn't transfer over), and then whatever is released up until "Holiday 2008." So when you think about how much DLC has already been released... it really isn't that much new stuff. It does put them way ahead of the curve still, though *cough* Activision *cough* :D
