Xbox 360 Arcade?

I'm planning on selling my Wii nad purchasing another consoles particularly because I seem to enjoy online and a wider hardcore game selection (I desperately want Re5). The Xbox 360 seems like the best choice for me as it offers tons of enjoyable games and has a solid, and from what I have heard, the best online gaming cababilities (COD4, Halo 3, GOW just to name a few great online games).

The Xbox 360 Arcade recently got another price drop, it now costs less than a Wii. I was looking into reviews and saw that as would be expected, there are some negatives to getting the cheapest Xbox 360 version. The lack of a harddrive was one of the main negatives that kept popping up. Also, the lack of the system to be able to play Xbox games was said (although this hardly concerns me).

Do you really think the Xbox 360 Arcade is a good choice even though it may be lacking in some areas? Is it going to ruin the experience or is it just a minor incovenience? From what I understand, certain demos and vdeos can't be seen. I personally don't plan to want to upgrade my system after buying it, that would be extremely frustrating. Do think this is going to really tarnish the experience or is it still a good buy?

In other words, after reading your post you will pretty much immediately regret getting the arcade. You will have to buy a Hard drive and headset eventually.

You read correctly: The Acrade does not come with a headset as well.

I just got a 60GB Pro about a week ago, I was debating between the Arcade and Pro just like you. Trust me.

Is the memory really THAT bad? Or is it endurable? For example, if I don't really own TOO many games (Tops like 10ish) and I don't really buy anything from the Marketplace, is it still going to be a nuisance?

EDIT: The Pro comes with the headset?

Dont get the arcade it comes witg 512mb memory card what you gonna do with that and hardrives are around £50-£60 which you will need to buy

Pro has headset. 10 games will take up about... well, I'm not too sure. But if you are playing halo and want to keep more than 5 saved games, gametypes, theater movies, etc. you will need a hard drive.

Also the Pro comes with an ethernet cable, if that makes a difference.

You can't download a demo, most of those are over 1GB.

If the Xbox 360 Arcade is really as limited as it sounds, I have a hard time understanding why anyone woul buy it. Sure, it's inexpensive, but in the long run, it seems like your going to pay for it.

The price was my primary reason for wanting it, but now I might reconsider that version.

Most people buy the Arcades for when they get RRoD and are too lazy to send it to Microsoft.

Like everyone has said, the Arcade isn't good. At all.

Buy a ps3.
Sure, it's slightly more expensive, but since online is absolutely free (and of the same quality as XBL) you end up saving money in the long run.

There was a point when I wanted a PS3. Sure, you don't have to pay for online, you don't have to pay for a bunch of extra accessories, and you get Blu Ray, but after considering that the PS3 currently doesn't not have a large amount of exclusives and, in general, even the games (a smaller library than the Xbox 360) cost more, I felt the 360 was the best option for me.
Besides, I want to be entirely sure my decision is a good one as I'm giving up my Wii and I probably won't get another system until the next generation. Because of this, the Xbox 360 looks the most promising to me and thus it is the system I will most likely buy.

(My opinion could possibly change though, in the future)
