First off, let me just say this: If you're one of those people that think Rock Band is easier than Guitar Hero (Which, granted, is true for the most part) go look up Painkiller or Peace Sells or Panic Attack or Visions. THEN tell me that GH is harder than RB.
Anyway, I personally think Rock Band is better in every aspect. Almost. The graphics are good, as well as the setlist. Going by the
Wii versions of both competitors latest releases (GH:WT and RB2), RB2's online is better than WT's, mainly because of the whole 4
Wii's can connect at a time instead of 2 for GH:WT.
Another thing, Rock Band has more songs that people actually
like. I didn't listen to many of the songs on either game prior to purchase and I wound up liking Rock Band songs more than Guitar Hero's on a 3:1 ratio.
I mean, seriously, who here can actually say they ENJOYED listening to songs like Escuela de Calor and Do It Again?
Now, if you're into that kind of music, no offense is intended. But I just don't really see why it's in a GH game. It's kinda boring to play.
Getting to the hardware, the drums in Rock Band, especially the RB2 kit, have the advantage of being around longer and are more stable than Guitar Hero's. If you do own a RB2 kit, you'll probably know that:
- It's velocity sensitive
- You can use 2 bass drum pedals right out of the box
- There are ports for cymbals
- The metal plated foot pedal
Now the cymbals seem pointless, but when plugged in they make up the hi-hat, crash, and ride aspects of a real drum set. Which is kinda cool. In a way.
I still find myself using the guitars that Red Octane makes, though. They seem sturdier.
In conclusion, Rock Band is just more fun than Guitar Hero. Who doesn't like the idea of rocking out with you're friends in a band? Even though it's fake, Rock Band seems to pull it off better.
