Is there a hack/glitch for getting low class items always?

I was racing this guy "Ben" via Wifi and he had like 2500 wins and 800 losses I think. In the 4 races that we had, most of the time he got the start advantage and I was always second to him ( it was a one vs one race ). It didnt matter that I was second ( last ), and if I was close to him, far from him, and very far from him ... EVERY TIME I went through an item box, in hopes that I will get a good item to slow him down ( blue shell, lightning, red shell, star, etc ... ), all I got was a mediocre banana, green shell, or bomb!!! Maybe an occasional single mushroom that counts as nothing if you snake.
Is there a cheat that prevents players from getting good items?
I noticed that he was holding most of the time a banana. He didnt use it at all ... so maybe there is some kind of glitch.
Anyone know anything about this? ... or did I just had pure and uber bad luck?

I'm not sure if it is a glitch or not; but in your case, you probably had uber bad luck.
I'm going to check this out further, I'll post what I find out in here later.

I use the action replay (That is what players use to hack on wi-fi) and I there is no such cheat code of that.
There is a cheat for infinite bananas and other mediocore items, but no codes to affect other wifi players.

I used to think that too. That if I have a kart with a low level status on items, the chances for getting good items would decrease. But then I researched farther and found that the only thing affecting the items level would be the amount of certain items you would get at a time. For example if you have a kart with a full bar on the items level, then your chances of getting 3 green shells, or 3 red shells, or 3 bananas will greatly increase. That holds true but it doesnt work at all in wifi/multiplayer play. Therefore if it doesnt work on wifi, then it doesnt matter what is the items bar level.

I may say it was just bad luck if I didnt get at least a single red shell in one race ... maybe two races .. but all 4 of them??? I may have gone through an item box at least 2 times, each lap, in 4 races (thats 24 times) and didnt get any good item even if I was last?

The funny thing about what you said is that is EXACTLY happens to me every time I race you. It appears that I'm a magnet for crappy items.

Make sure you read the FIRST posts in every thread, otherwise you'll jump to conclusions (like now for instance). k4ever was asking if there was and only needed a simple "Yes" or "No" response. He asked this because he is obviously ticked off by the fact that he gets bad items often. Case closed.
