Special Cup: help needed... -.-;

No matter how hard I try, I can't get a star rank on the Special Cup...Curse you Rainbow Road...CURSE. YOU.

Anyone got any ideas or strategys to get a star on this cup? ANYTHING USEFUL WILL DO.

Use a heavy char (to push off comps >=D) and don't try to be fancy, just race withour drifting.

I know you're doing a cup but I found that using a bike was better for me when I was tackling the time trial for Rainbow Road, so try one of them. I used the Mach bike on a medium sized character for it.

Also, if you don't need any power ups, avoid the big ramps on a couple of the corners that shoot you up into the air and hit ? boxes. That's only going to slow you down.

Rainbow road is a breeze once you get the hang of each corner. I did 150cc special cup yesterday and got star rank, but for some reason it didn't save, was so annoyed. I did it again and only got an A rank, but I'm determined to get star ranks for all cups ;)

So yeah, practise on time trials for a while to get a feel for the track. It doesn't compare to having stuff thrown at you constantly - but make sure you get every single boost and do tricks on every bump, and don't do tricks up the sides around the two big gaping holes - just cruise past them. Keeps you ahead whereas fancy tricks delay you.

I've been unlocking and getting stars for everything with just a kart and automatic. I don't use manual.
