It would be cool, but they would look to bland. I wish that with the recent Wii Ware release, they added a DLC pack for MKWii with all the classic courses. I'd probably pay around $10 for it, if it was more I'd still get it.

That's an awesome idea. I'd love to play through all my favorites since the N64.

I think creating my own levels would be fun for a while, even with only basic editing tools, as long as there weren't minimums, like your track HAS to be so long, or the road MUST be at least 5 karts wide. Something like that would ruin the imaginative juices.

Why not both things?
Level editor and extra retro courses.

There seems enough people interested in it.

About the limitations of an editor, there has to be limits set.
Otherwise the game and console will have trouble computing the data.

It can be a challenge and adds incentive to think up solutions around the limitations.

Maximums would be a must. I think I would design something of a long strait road that comes to a narrow squeeze of maybe a kart and a half wide, just so me and my friends would have a heck of a time fighting over getting through it. I think if there were minimums this may be impossible.

Oh well, in this case, dreaming is a lost cause.

I think I have an answer to your design.

Picture this: you have used the GBA Bowser Castle template for your design.
Place a boost ramp on the straight and put blocks from the SNES courses on the road.
If you fall off from the blocks, you get burned by lava.

Voila, here is your tight squeeze.

Ok, but I have shown you if think out of the box.
You can design what ever you want to design.
