Well, I won the season just now but just a second ago I had a look at my total win loss record and it has gone down to what it was before the season that I won had started. Is that what happens when you win the season or hjas something gone wrong?

When you when the season (in-game), then your W/L record goes back down to 0-0. Though, it should still say your overall W/L record when it shows who you're facing, not the loading screen.

yeh I know it goes back to 0-0 after the season but my overall record has completely changed which is annoying.

It does'nt matter about your overall record, nobody sees it, but its not supposed to happen.
