Poison - Talk Dirty To Me. Lets hear any new singer sing like that. Screaming? No, and this song topped the charts for awhile too. (Yes, it's metal, Glam Metal.)
Oh, do any of those songs sing about Pain and Suffering? No.
Metal has some of the best lyrics out there.
Country = Love, Having a good time.
Rap = Sex, Drugs.
Pop = Love.
Metal = War, the Government, Afterlife, Having a good time. Things that are important, and the American media is to ignorant and "protective" to tell to American citizens.

Well, Disturbed plays in Drop D, which is pretty much making guitar 10x easier. And they have a lot of hip-hop influenced music, which makes them Nu-metal. I don't like them, but whatever floats your boat.
As for Slipknot.

I'm really into melodic death metal right now.
I love many different types of metal, but I really love the dark heavy stuff.

Awesome, I'm not into the whole satanic thing, so I stay away from bands like Dimmu and Cradle, but Dimmu does have one amazing drummer.
