Oh no, that is purely coincidental.
I drew the hands like that to convey a macho or shy stance respectively.

I do know how to draw a hand, but these pictures was a experiment.
Yes, I agree with you that I need a lot more practice.

Ah... If you say so. It's just, in my experience of viewing others' artworks, that's what someone would do to hide the fact that they can't draw hands. Though I guess sometimes those poses are intentional... you'll never really gain anything by drawing them either way.

Just trying to help. :o

Yep, I know you only want to help.
And I do appreciate it too.

True, there are several tricks to mask it.

When I draw a certain stance or something else, I look at my own body.
By looking at your own hands, it creates a more accurate and realistic picture.

Re: LPhela's Art Gallery/Manga Learning school - 04-03-09

After a long absence here is a new update:
Likewise you can find the pictures on the 1st page aswell.

As I promised here are some of the new sections you can learn from:
For what it is worth that is.

Hair:
Here is only a basic outline about this subject.
There are so many different haircuts that I can't show you all of them.
Most of all you have to experiment yourself what it is possible to create.
There are no limits in hairstyles or colours in the manga world, so the sky is the limit.

But there are 2 thumbrules.
1. When drawing hair, draw more widly strokes then elsewhere on the body.
Especially with the bangs (spiky hair).

2. On the hair and on the other hair pieces (bangs, ponytail etc.) draw a circle of lighter colour around the middle of the haircut and on the same radius on the other hair parts.
As shown by the pictures.

You can increase the shiny effect by drawing a line of even lighter colour on the sides.
The red lines shows where to draw the lines when there is a wave in a hairdo.

The third picture tells you how to create braids.
Draw a curved line on one side then another curve on the another side, curved line on the left side again and so on.
With the beginning and the end of the braid draw a circle to connect them.

Hands:
The drawing shows schematicly how the hands should look like.
The left is the backside and the right is the inside of a hand.

First up draw a circle with a flat line on the top.
Then draw another full small circle for the thumb base.
For the fingers and the thumb draw a cyclinderlike form with segments in it.

Please note that male fingers are stumpy and square (much like a brick).
Female fingers are on the other hand pointy and curved.

For knowing how to draw a certain stance, just look at your own hands posing the stance you want.

Re: LPhela's Art Gallery/Manga Learning school - 07-03-09

Yet another overdue update.
I really should break that habit.

This is my first try using the GFX program GIMP.
I know I can get more out of the program then this, but at the moment this is the best I can get.

Sorry about the blurryness.
Somehow the site projects the picture with more blur.

Here is a new picture.
This time a hand drawn image without using any references.
It is also my entry for fc.com's Creative Month hand drawn event.
