No problem, and make sure you set the album to public to make the background images working.

To make it alot simple:

1. Save the picture to album.
2. Click your album.
3. Click on one of your album.
4. Click the picture.
5. Scroll down till you see the link it given of picture url, you might see it, and copy it.
6. Go to Customize Profile.
7. Paste it at Background Image.
8. Click on Save Changes.

Oh, ok, I see that you could require a bigger picture if you want to take over the entire profile images, almost taking over.
